It has been three days since the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti. Sources say that people who were killed in the earthquake would have died in the first 72 hours. The people of Haiti are lacking resources that are in need to survive. The question is how long can they physically survive without these sources? People can go longer without food than without water. Water is one of the main resources needed ex specially in a dry and dusty area. Help is on the way starting today. The main goal of the rescue relief is to help the people alive and in need because it is probably too late for those who are buried.
It's surprising how fast time has gone by. The earthquake hit three days ago already and it's becoming too late for people who got buried in the rubble to stay alive this long. Immediate relief needs to occur as of today in order to save the people from infection and hunger. I feel for the people of Haiti and hope for the best for those who need relief.

Intriguing people for January 14th, 2010
President Obama announced on Wednesday that Dr. Rajiv Shah will be in charge of the overall relief in Haiti. Shah is a 36 year- old that is a part of the U.S. Agency for International Dev elopement. His main goal in the first 72 hours is too focus on saving lives. Shah is very advanced, being involved in jobs such as an under- secretary at the Department of Agriculture as well as a health care policy advisor in the 2000 Gore administration. He has served as a policy member in the British Parliament and at the World Health Organization.
I think President Obama has done right by appointing a very intelligent individual to be in charge of the overall relief in Haiti. As of now, lives are still being accounted for and as a helping nation we need to make priority in finding those people. In recent articles that I read, rain is supposedly coming their way and we need to provide shelter so more illnesses do not occur. As a nation we can give relief and help to Haiti one step at a time. The first step has been accounted for by appointing Dr. Shah to lead them to hope.

Churches, groups worry about members missing in Haiti
This past Tuesday, a devastating earthquake erupted in Haiti. Since then more than 45,000 Americans are predicted missing. Family members of certain church groups who missioned there and family of students studying there are hoping for the best. Communications has been very hard and it's nearly impossible to come in contact with people. Many examples include 30 year old Chelsey who has been living in Haiti for two years. She's working on her doctoral dissertation in anthropology and her parents have not heard back from her yet. Another example is a church group from New Jersey who was planned to stay in Haiti for one week. Their flight was expected to leave the day of the earthquake, but since then the church has not heard back from them. They are hoping and praying for a miracle.
I hope for the best for family members and loved ones who are awaiting life changing phone calls from missing others. It is tragic when a natural disaster hits a country. Haiti had already been a poor and needy country and this was the tragic accident that gave no hope to its people. I know many life's were lost in this event and I hope that people who are missing are found soon so their loved ones can be at a peace of mind. As for the 45,000 Americans missing, most went to Haiti for a mission to help the country turn around on a positive note. To those people i pray the best.

Murder trial shines national debate on abortion
On May 20th, 2009, Dr. George Tiller was shot in the head and killed during a Sunday morning church service. The defendant is Scott Roeder and claims that his reason for shooting Tiller was because he undergone many last minute abortions at the Wichita Clinic since 1973. His excuse was so he could save the possible thousands of babies from being murdered. The known trial has become a major debate and is becoming focused on the issue of abortion. If Roeder were to face first degree murder, he would face life in prison. The jury might also be given the opportunity to convict Roeder of voluntary manslaughter which means that the crime was unreasonable but an honest belief.
Abortion has become a major debate in today's world and has lead to a doctor who practices it to become shot and killed. I believe that abortion is not right but I also believe that murder is not right. No matter who the person was or what that victim did for a living, no one deserves to have their life taken from them. By Roeder killing Dr. Tiller, he did just as bad a crime as Tiller did, the act of murder. No one should be convinced to kill, whether the person is born or not. It is God's choice to judge and that is left up to Him.

Google Unveils Nexus One Smartphone
Google recently came out with their newest smartphone, the Nexus. Since its announcement, Google has been ranked one of the top employers standing next to Apple. It has become an inevitable appearance and continues to be a top advertiser on television. It is a touch screen phone epuipt with wi-fi, a camera, an accerlerater, compass, and television. The new smartphone seems to become the future of American cellular phones.
I don't know why so much hypes occur over a cell phone. I understand that American technology is advancing, but all phones seem to do the same things to me. It's neat that Google can up with a cell phone instead of apple, verizon, or t-mobile. In today's world, people need to advance in technology and this is a good oportunity for people to become advanced in that area.
